Tracking Your Brand on Pinterest

I came across this article on Mashable today that offered a very neat trick to see who is pinning things from your website on the new social network Pinterest. To quickly see who is using your content, type:

http://pinterest.com/source/YourWebsite.com/

into your browser window, substituting your company’s URL for “YourWebsite.com”. I quickly did this for Mascola and could see that someone has sampled from our Retro Ad of the Week series. The article also then goes into ways to turn this page into a custom RSS feed that you can use as another piece of your social network presence online.

Inc.com also offers some wise, more general advice for using Pinterest to promote your business, including something you might not think of: don’t pin only your own products. News items and complementary products from other companies help round out your page and show potential customers that you’re interested in informing, not just selling.

Overall, Pinterest is a great way to showcase the amount of people who are already not only talking about your brand but adding it to their personal visual library. That being said, you might want to wait to do this until the amount of Pins is a more respectable number than one.
