I just received my first gift of the 2014 holiday season. Not from someone I actually know, but from the packaging design blog The Dieline. A few weeks ago, the blog released a downloadable book of over 100 free packaging design templates. I’ve always used their site as a place to see what cool new projects are hitting the market, but with this new booklet, they have become a great resource for working design templates, too.

The booklet is broken up into four sections: Shopping Bags, Rigid Boxes, Folding Boxes, and Gift Card Carriers. Within each section you can find templates for everything from basic structures to extremely complex designs like the threaded 2-piece folding box below.

Like I mentioned above, you can download the free packaging design templates booklet as a PDF and open it up in Illustrator to begin your next package design. My recommendation for your next project is to start simple and use this guide as a resource to create something wonderful this holiday season!
