Older airline ads were known for touting their stewardesses’ beauty and charm. This (somewhat creepy) 1971 Eastern Airlines ad boasts about all the “fantastic qualities” that Eastern Airlines stewardesses must have beyond the typical airline requirements. Beauty was a prerequisite for all airlines, but Eastern also claimed to value brains. As long as the beauty was there too, of course.
FUN FACT: Prior to becoming President and CEO of Eastern Airlines in 1975, Frank Borman had a long career with NASA. He served as Commander of the Apollo 8, which became the first flight to circumnavigate the moon in December of 1968. (Source: New Mexico Museum of Space History)
