tourism co-op advertising

Retro Ad of the Week: The London Underground, 1921

Even in 1921, co-op ads were used to promote tourism. Go to the zoo, and take the Underground to get there. A simple message with compelling artwork designed by Charles Paine. Today, tourist attractions should consider partnering with other local, complementary businesses and follow the Underground’s lead. Broadening to new, like-minded audiences could be just what you need to boost your visitorship (and your ticket sales).

FUN FACT #1: The London Underground has long commissioned artists to come up with intriguing visuals to drive use of the subway for leisure activities. You can find more beautifully designed Underground posters from throughout the years here and here.
