Steve Jobs: “You have to trust in something…”

As a result of today’s announcement that Steve Jobs is stepping down from Apple due to his current health struggles, there is a bumper crop of articles about his career, patents he owns and the challenges Apple will face without him.

It was through this media blitz, that I actually rediscovered his commencement speech to the 2005 graduates of Stanford University on YouTube. In it, he references his own past experiences (dropping out of college, being fired from Apple, etc.) to warn the graduates against over-planning their life’s direction. Instead, he encourages them to pursue their dreams and see the opportunities in the setbacks that life puts in your way.

It’s worth a watch if you have a moment.
