Retro Ad of the Week: The Big E, 1940

It’s opening day for longstanding Mascola Group client, The Big E. And we’d like to celebrate their 100th anniversary with a few ads and posters from the past. This one from 1940 features fairgoers in fine attire ascending on what was then a seven-day extravaganza (it is now 17 days and the largest fair east of the Mississippi).

The Big E has had some of the best state fair advertising in the country. Below you’ll see a few from throughout the century. Or if you’d like to see their more recent ads, you can see a few from this year’s campaign on our new website.

FUN FACT: The Big E has survived wars, floods, and a hurricane. You can see a full exhibit on the fair’s history at the fair starting today — September 16 – October 2. (Source: Boston Globe)
