Seasonal Airline Advertising / Retro Ad of the Week: National Airlines, 1951

If you were living anywhere east of Minnesota during the Great Appalachian Storm of 1950, this seasonal airline advertising came at the perfect time in spring 1951. And as you prepare for the first official day of spring tomorrow and yet another day of shoveling, you too might be ready to squeeze in “that winter vacation you almost missed.”

While we’re all tired of hearing about this brutal winter, reminding your consumers that they can still make a cold-weather escape is a good method for catching those on-the-fence-travelers. A seasonal airline advertising strategy like this one can work year round, even for those seasons we wish would never end.

Whether you’re relishing in one more shot at the slopes or praying for a snow-free April, we wish you a happy (almost) first day of spring!
