Retro Ad of the Week: Benson’s Wild Animal Farm, 1960s

Was Benson’s Wild Animal Farm in New Hampshire the strangest farm on earth or were we all being fooled?

Benson’s opened to the public in 1926 and had been a cherished landmark to New Englanders for decades. Advertising their “strange” animals, thrills, and surprises, Benson’s created experiences that children treasured, including the famous dancing elephants. Unfortunately in 1987, it was no April Fool’s joke when Benson’s went bankrupt and had to shut down after being open for 60 plus years, according to  New Hampshire Magazine.

Fun Fact: Benson’s reopened in 2010 as a park and is maintained by local volunteers. (Source: BensonsAnimalFarm.com)
