Throughout the years, fashion brands have failed (at least in their print ads) to recognize that it is their consumers that own the brand. Usually you see a supermodel or an actress, clad in whatever brand is featured, and a line of copy about where the latest piece is available. This Dior ad stands out because it gives the reader ownership of the brand and all that it embodies, inviting her to see herself as equal in intrigue to the star of the ad.
FUN FACT: In 1958, a year after Christian Dior died of a heart attack, Yves Saint Laurent became lead designer for the brand, thereby launching his own career. (Source: New York Magazine)
