How does this sound:
Morse Code to replace the QWERTY keyboard on your mobile device…Developed by an engineer at Google who is related to Samuel Morse…and the whole thing is fully endorsed by hip-hop legend LL Cool J?
The only one of those statements that isn’t plausible to me is probably #3. (Uncle L will always be a bad 17 year old in a Kangol to me, not a Google pitchman).
Regardless, it’s all a supposed ruse by Google. Gmail Tap is apparently one of the search giant’s many April Fool’s pranks for 2012.
All jokes aside – the idea is not totally unbelievable. We’ve adapted to text and chat acronyms over the years as a means of speeding up communication. A return to Morse code might not be for everyone, but I’d be willing to bet some folks would jump right onboard.
