As mobile devices continue to put pressure on the watch market (to a degree), luxury watch brands must find new ways to resonate with audiences. For Omega, that message hasn’t changed in over 50 years. First tested by NASA in 1965, and later famously worn by Buzz Aldrin on his 1969 moon walk, the Omega Speedmaster is still known for its numerous expeditions into outer space. While today’s Speedmaster will set you back a little more than $235, you can still feel connected to extraterrestrial exploration with the second most popular luxury watch strapped to your wrist.
FUN FACT: This year marked the 50th anniversary of NASA’s first spacewalk. James McDivitt managed to snap a photo of fellow astronaut Ed White with his Speedmaster visible. Talk about product placement! (Source: Omega)
