Between 1958 and 1972, the Douglas Aircraft Company’s answer to the new Boeing 707 was their Douglas DC-8 narrow-body jet airliner. Touting many features now rare in air travel, the Douglas DC-8 offered wider aisles and seating to replicate the comforts of private clubs and airline lounges. And stewardesses would know, as the ad suggests, since their sole purpose it to serve their passengers’ every want and need. She couldn’t accomplish such feats on a less luxurious airline!
FUN FACT: After manufacturing of the DC-8 ceased in 1972, the aircraft were used for freight transport. Several remain in use today. (Source: Airliners.net)
