What makes a car a masterpiece? It could be the “strict conformity to the tenets of correct engineering, masterly workmanship, and good taste.” Or it could be the legacy of the Lincoln name that has been recognized for almost a hundred years.
Luxury automobile advertising has a long history of employing strong, somewhat boastful language. After all, consumers of these brands want to know that they’re buying the best. This was especially true in 1924, just two years after Ford purchased the bankrupt Lincoln Motor Company and strove to reposition the failing brand. Although this ad ran ninety years ago, the message still rings true. Lincoln is still recognized as a leader in affordable luxury, known for its high quality automobiles and brand resilience despite wavering confidence in recent years. And as the brand fast approaches its 100th birthday, we imagine it will be around for years to come.
FUN FACT: Lincoln Motor Company was first founded in August 1917 by Henry Leland. He named the company after none other than former President Abraham Lincoln, his long-time political hero and inspiration. (Source: Ford)
