A super-suave Frank Sinatra exiting a private plane. The dim light of the Las Vegas skyline. A tagline with a lyric from a beloved Rat Pack tune. The Sands, the epitome of Las Vegas tourism in the 1960’s, must have thought they had created the perfect ad.
To this day, the hotel, now The Venetian Las Vegas, pays tribute to Sinatra. But not even Old Blue Eyes could have made sense of body copy that manages to contradict itself in fewer than ten lines. Does The Sands offer “the ultimate in luxury?” Or a “casual and informal” experience? In my book, those words appeal to two very different types of traveler.
The Sin City has managed to appeal to a wide range of visitors in the last few years with a smart work hard, play hard campaign. Check out our coverage on it here.
Fun Fact: Once the Palazzo was added, the Venetian became the largest hotel in the world, featuring more than 2.3 million square feet of meeting space, 1 million square feet of retail space, 7,000 suites and 30 restaurants. (Source: The Venetian Las Vegas)
