Retro Ad of the Week: Disneyland’s Kaiser Aluminum Hall of Fame, 1955

July 1955 brought Disney’s California park to life (despite any major hiccoughs), and with it came Tomorrowland. Rounding out the opening of the sci-fi themed area, metal manufacturer Kaiser Aluminum created a spot of their own amongst the attractions, which featured an educational walkthrough of aluminum usage throughout the park and beyond. While the ad is an example of smart B2B advertising, the attraction is a good example of pre-Internet content marketing, which Disney himself had mastered with his promotion of the park.

FUN FACT: Despite having an entire exhibit dedicated to their craft, Kaiser wanted out due to Disney’s promotion of competing Disney sponsors. The company was quick to depart, ending its participation soon after their 5-year contract with the park expired. (Source: DuchessofDisneyland.com)
