Hospitality Marketing / Retro Ad of the Week: The Mohican Hotel, 1898

When we think of hip, cultural happenings and beautiful, exciting places to visit in Connecticut, you may be drawn to big cities like New Haven, breathtaking foliage in Kent or scenic river views in Essex. But did you know the coolest place to stay back in the day was New London? And, it was fireproof. Which is a plus.

FUN FACT #1: The building was originally purchased by multimillionaire Frank Munsey and named the Munsey Building. Munsey used this building for his namesake magazine publishing businessAfter only half a year, Munsey found himself having to search for a new use for the building after a worker’s strike forced him to shut his publication down, and so it became a hotel.
