Google Glass Gives New Meaning to ‘Eye Witness’

Nearly everyone in the media world has heard of Google Glass by now, and it’s a game changer. It is revolutionizing the way news is captured and shared through social media platforms like Twitter. And soon, Google Glass users will have access to a WordPress plugin, giving folks in the media world an even faster, easier way to get their breaking news out to the world.

Imagine you’re a reporter covering a press conference. Until now, the only option for capturing the presentation was to fumble awkwardly with your mobile device—holding it obnoxiously in front of your face while trying to keep it steady—and later upload it to your social media platform of choice. Now, thanks to Google and worldwide PR firm Webber Shadwick, the plugin allows for real-time recording and quick upload to Twitter.

The plugin does have a few limitations, though, namely a lack of dictation capability. However, developers are working on voice commands that would allow users to add comments around the uploaded media while recording.

How will this and other Google Glass plugins continue to evolve? We’ll be watching the new technologies as Google makes the world of reporting, and beyond, even faster.
