Fast food giant Chick-fil-A has threatened to take a Vermont t-shirt maker to court over trademark infringement. Apparently, the “Eat More Kale” t-shirts that Vermont artist Bo Muller-Moore produces are too close to Chick-fil-A’s “Eat Mor Chikin” tagline. When Muller-Moore attempted to trademark his slogan, Chick-fil-A stepped in:
…looks a heckuvalot like an ad that the state of Florida ran back in 1965:
There are few ideas that are original, and even if the sayings are similar, Chick-fil-A’s actions seem extreme and somewhat bully-esque. The divide between fried chicken sandwiches and kale is probably wide enough that the two can peacefully coexist. Find another soap box to stand on and leave the kale guy alone.
What do you think? Is Chick-fil-A a big bully or just protecting their brand?
