In honor of Computer Science Week, we’re here to remind you that technology can be sexy. At least it was in 1978 when computer advertising featured a seemingly endless number of fierce competitors. Since then, a few leaders have emerged in the market, leaving smaller brands like Technico in the dust. But if the company followed through with sending its $35 “Explicit Manual” promised in this ad, we imagine Technico, Inc. did pretty well for a while.
FUN FACT: Technico didn’t make it out of the 20th century, but it’s in good company. Thanks to closings, mergers, and new ventures, fewer than half of the nicknamed “Snow White and the Seven Dwarves” (Snow White being IBM) still exclusively make computers today. (Source: Network World)
