Boat Advertising / Retro Ad of the Week: Luhrs Boats, 1971

Boat advertising has historically been aimed at men, but like cars, the woman of the household typically commands the last word. Luhrs famously established itself as the source for “The Man’s Boat” throughout the 1970’s with edgy copy like “What’s that woman doing on a man’s boat?” This 1971 ad is no different, but we expect that the response “Who’s gonna fix the lunch?” would score this guy a pair of cement shoes rather than keys to a shiny new Sportfisher.
