Attraction Advertising / Retro Ad of the Week: San Diego Zoo, 1980

Telling your prospective consumers that their unwieldy children belong in a zoo is risky. Unless, of course, you’re actually a zoo. Wrapping the audience into your story is a great attraction advertising strategy, helping potential visitors relate to and connect with your brand. While the body copy in this 1980 ad is somewhat lacking, the headline and tagline pay it off nicely, as does the subtle grammatical twist, driving home the message: “You belong in the zoo.”
