Who wants to be a golf widow? I DO! Which is exactly what this 1989 Grand Cypress Resort ad wants from me.
After all, just because you’re planning a vacation around golf doesn’t mean the other elements aren’t important. Even more so when you’re bringing along a non-golfer. This ad flips the script on the term “golf widow” – it turns a lonely, thumb-twiddling trip into an enviable, luxurious getaway.
At the Grand Cypress Resort, the golf widow isn’t pitied. She’s discerning, deserving, and in control.
Here the golf widow is pampered and treated with considerable respect. After all, the golf widow just might be our most important guest, for who better can appreciate our luxurious accommodations, beautiful pools and dazzling presentation of shops and restaurants.
And despite 45 holes of spectacular Jack Nicklaus golf, we agree there’s more to life than shooting par.
Which is why we’re inclined to think that golf widows here are playing, and for that matter winning, an even more interesting game.
The Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress opened in 1954 and was the first luxury resort to open in Orlando. With 1500 acres, a private lake, a lagoon pool, and the aforementioned golf courses, the Grand Regency offered a refined way to take a break from the mouse. (Source: Wikipedia)
