A Topshop location in Russia recently created a Virtual Fitting Room using Augmented Reality. This kinetically controlled dressing room allows you to try on various outfits with the wave of your hand. With this novelty and a DJ spinning Moscow’s latest beats, it seems to make for a very cool in-store experience.
However, as a consumer, I can’t help but feel that this technology doesn’t offer a true look at how a dress will actually fit each woman’s (or man’s) very specific figure. Which may mean that more consumers end up in the actual fitting room instead of the virtual one.
And that’s not necessarily a bad thing for Topshop.
