There are few ways to more quickly and efficiently squash a good headline than with excessive punctuation. With the majority of schools now out for the summer, it’s no surprise that theme park advertising would be equally as enthusiastic as the students themselves. But with 6 of the body copy’s 8 sentences ending in an exclamation point, this Hersheypark ad could use a round in summer school. The concept, however, is a great one. For seasonal attractions like amusement parks and fairs, refreshing existing points of interest year after year can be a major challenge. This 1973 ad simply announces a new home for Hersheypark’s existing carousel horses, but it was likely enough to pique the interest of both loyal patrons and first-time visitors.
