Special Thanksgiving Retro Ad: Schenley Whiskey, 1942

If it looks like FDR eating a turkey leg in front of a plane with blueprints in his lap, is it really FDR eating a turkey leg in front of a plane with blueprints in his lap? Perhaps. In 1942, everything was illustrated, so we can only assume.  But it sure looks like that’s what they were trying to portray, especially with the tagline, “America Makes the Best of Everything.” Well done, Schenley.

Wishing you a happy Thanksgiving full of laughter, joy, and endless leftovers – from our family to yours!

FUN FACT: During World War II, Schenley was the only whiskey available to officers aboard submarines on Midway Atoll. They were not very fond of it, however, referring to it as “Schenley’s Black Death.” (Source: Wikipedia)
