International Tourism Marketing / Retro Ad of the Week: Soviet Russia, 1932

Tourists looking for a carefree vacation in 1932 had an array of options, but where else could you “Go as you please” other than in Soviet Russia? Probably anywhere else, but this USSR international tourism marketing campaign gets credit for trying. After all, when you’re a newly-formed state, you have to flaunt what you’ve got. In Soviet Russia’s case, that was factories, sights of “unusual interest,” and “Industrial Tours.” Sign me up!

 

 

FUN FACT: Industrial tourism has seen a resurgence recently, in both new applications such as winery and distillery tours, and in the traditional sense, particularly in Europe where abandoned factories and mines abound. (Source: Culture.pl – Poland)
